Is being a figure drawing model a decent side gig for supplemental income or is it not worth it?

How good are you at remaining fairly still for an extended period of time?

READ ON THE SUBJECT
any books by people who did figure drawing or mdoelling is important. i did figure drawing for a while and it was ok but it's very important to think of areas. some places don't help as much as others do.
just think of how many people you know that would pay for figure drawing or draw figures or be a model. fancy unis would pay more, certain classes pay somewhat, no your body doesn't really do anything to the worth of a model but is still really dependant on other factors.

I just wanted to get some perspectives from those who have done it.

Also, does being a 24-year-old male put me at a disadvantage? It seems like this is a profession that prefers women for the most part.

Yeah. I was friends with a guy in university who did it. He liked it.
