Someone suggested this board to me.

Basically I'm diagnosed schizo, major depressive and anxiety disorder. I take heavy meds every day, they help but I still have symptoms(voices), suicide ideation and anxiety. I switch meds all the time to see if there's something better that'll help me but nothing has been as stable as serequel for me.

I've been homeless most my life but somehow a case worker got me into a mental housing apartment.

I'm applying for SSDI, got a lawyer and I'm waiting for the hearing date.

The problem is my lawyers don't seem to be doing anything outside of the bare minimum.

When they appealed, they asked me what mydiagnosis are, despite them having all my medical records.

Then I asked them if there was anything I could do to help my odds of getting approved and they basically just said "we appreciate how involved you are in this case", a bunch of generic non-answers.

Now I could switch lawyers but then my insurance would be split three ways instead of two.

I need a way to get approved for SSDI, I've been fighting this case for 3 years now, I've been told people usually don't get it on their first try, but I tried multiple times before.

The doctor the state sent me too was on my side and even wrote that I was disabled and wanted to approve me but for some reason they didn't.

I don't understand this? Why live your entire life piggy backing the government? Anyway, dealing with voices it is all a matter of differentiating what's real and what is not, until you get to a point where you can safely say, the voices aren't gonna get me, ya'know?

The only thing to do here is become more involved in the case. Read up on case law, read up on grounds for denial, essentially do the lawyers job for them

I spend hours of time going over what I heard and tr ying to make sense of it. And im not piggybacking, i was working for the past 10 years hiding it and medicating with alcohol, eventually it came to a boiling point and lost me my job

My brother in Christ, Schizophrenia is a disorder of empathy and all human beings require social relationships to function, especially schitzos. The tragedy of the illness is the more you slip into despair the more you will push people away and the more you isolate yourself the worse the symptoms will get.
Going on the government dole will only isolate you and exacerbate your problems. If you were able to work for 10 years you CAN get yourself a new job. You need to make that your focus rather than getting on SSDI. You think you want it but it will be a monkey's paw.
Contact your social worker, ask for help getting work, try to get into a group home, get involved in church, don't let others in to what you're dealing with until you can trust them, and for the love of God, man, try to stay positive.

You have a tough road but you can prevail.

Im schizo too. I only have one piece of advice. You can (hopefully) get rid of your voices if you:
Stop trying to figure out what they mean
Stop conversing with them or even listening
And stop letting them speak
The last one is the hardest but if you succeed they will literally stop talking. Every time a voice talks it has to borrow a bit of your imagination to do so. If you have a certain level of detachedness and control over your mind, you can refuse to let it be borrowed and the voice will be robbed of power and over time cease to be. This is hard. You probably need to train your ability to be mentally silent through meditation, if you are able to do so. Be patient, and good luck.
