I've been wearing earplugs almost non-stop for the past 10 weeks. I only take them off for about 10 minutes every now and then when I'm at home and then I put them back on. I just fucking hate all sounds, air conditioners, fridge, people talking, cars, trains. I just want quiet. Is this normal or can this be a problem? I've noticed that I feel much less exhausted when going outside with them, like the sounds dont drain me so bad

life was mostly quiet before the industrial revolution so it's normal for you to like quietness.

but keep in mind that severe sound sensitivity = autism.

sounds like autism.
everyone is annoyed by the noise of the world but its also important to be able to tune it out.

Do your ears not hurt?
Try a white noise generator instead

I won't read is this normal threads, particularly ones where what is described is FREAKISHLY abnormal. The reason for not reading it is that one hardly knows where to begin because the mere asking of the question implies a whole raft of abnormality ranging beyond hearing.

your ears need some time to be able to transport earwax and dirt in your ear to the outside. if you constantly plug them up, this process will not work anymore and your ears might get seriously clogged up, which often can only be cleaned out by a doctor with a special vacuum.
also, if there's any form of moisture in your ear for a longer period of time (especially moisture with lots of bacteria), you can develop swimmer's ear, which is an infection of the outer ear canal that can hurt, closes up your ear with swelling and fluid produced by the infection and doesn't really seem to want to go away on its own without antibiotics and ear vacuuming by a doctor. i've also heard that it can potentially permanently damage your hearing if it gets really bad. usually, when you had this once, you then keep getting it again and again really easily (speaking from experience).

No such thing unless you live in straya and you've got cockatoos perched on your balcony going AAAAAAAAA
>wait i actually thoguht it worked the other way arround. dont you lose hearing with loud noises?
no that's completely backwards, in the same way tha when you lose your sense of taste you lose the more subtle flavors but can still kind of tell what's very salty very spicy or very sweet, or when you lose vision you can't see details of anything but can still kind of see big blurry things. Same with hearing, that's why old people with hearing aids, and zoomers with hearing damage from their zoomer pods, need to have everything turned up to maximum volume all the time.

Most people just do it with music. I could probably not last 1 minute in the gym if I didn't have music blasting from my IEMs

I've been wearing noise-cancelling earbuds all day, even when I sleep to block out the existence of my dysgenic annoying neighbors. I was concerned it might be unhealthy for my ears but I find them being more healthy now. I.e. before I'd get itchiness inside and weird texture earwax but now it's better.
Anyway, if you don't have a problem keep doing whatever. I suggest noise-cancelling earbuds though, except maybe the bluetooth signals might give us brain cancer. They are so amazing at blocking out sound. Earplugs never did enough for me, they just dampen sound. Noise cancelling earbuds make you not even aware of outside sources of sound.

Change your earplugs out often, clean your ears often, and give your ears time to "air out" each day. You don't want to get an ear infection.
I also occasionally get mental fatigue from excessive noise and need some time in quiet to decompress. It's a bit weird to do it in public though. Could look into noise cancelling headphones for public noise blocking.

I'm surprised you haven't gotten an ear infection or impacted ear wax yet.

use filtered earplugs and replace them every month, get two pairs take turns washing them and using the clean pair.
