Hello /adv/. I want to make a vlog post and make religious videos (not so much give my opinions on theological debate but more as a pilgrim) under the suggestion of a TikTok maker that sought my life is very interesting. I am very unsatisfied with my uselessness, for religion too, so it appeals to me and I started to make some videos (not posted yet). I need to keep them short for instagram/tiktok (he says max 1:30min) and I’m now a bit sceptical about the interest of me filming my life (vlogs in general don’t seem interesting unless someone does really special stuff or is very interesting. As a pilgrim I sleep in all kinds of places and go to a lot of religious places and meet religious people. I want to sleep in front of a famous cathedral tonight and maybe make a 1:30min video of it. Next go to an ashram, etc… what do you think of it ? How to have the good dynamic with it (not guilty, not egoistic) and how to enact it (simply and to stay a pilgrim, I’m still outside and I still live very simply). How to do these videos ? I’m open to do some kind funny light trolling (still be nice to people and not becoming a joker but I mean that I’m able to talk to people and use interactions in a video (with their accord ofc)). How to get the inspiration (aside from prayer obviously) ?. Thank you for your help

Social media is to spirituality as cancer is to the immune system.

I would agree with you. But I asked two spiritual fathers. One of them said it isn’t immoral. When you think about it, and don’t confuse social media with the results we see - being spiritual isn’t being anonymous, and spiritual peoples have been known publicly. And there isn’t immorality in being known or speaking publicly, or speaking of religion publicly. When you think about it there isn’t a public sphere that is immoral. That being said I fear showing myself. Not because I’m shy, but because I fear falling into egotism and plain vanity (notably showing lame stuff)

At the same time it’s not like I’m the goat spiritually or I could/would present myself as such. So I can do some presentation/vulgarisation without pretension. Or I think maybe I could

Careful with that brother. There is only one spiritual father, His name is God. Yes there are 'spiritual fathers' in human form. Gurus, yogis, shamans, teachers, self-professed wise men. Avoid them. High chance they're a tad bit psychopathic. They get off on telling others what to think and what to feel. They like being seen as someone else's daddy, someone else's God. They're called Antichrists.

You are the same from before ? Hmm
Notice they didn’t tell me what to do. They didn’t force my freedom, they instead gave me elements for my own decision. It’s a sign of a good advisor. They also don’t deal in absolutes like Sith unironically. Like in fact you tend to do : disregarding all spiritual fathers, all social media or giving me a decision already made upon that (if something was plain wrong I would agree though but they are clear on what is sin or not)

No you don't
>How to have the good dynamic with it
You don't have to limit your videos to whatever the algorithm wants to push. Make something soulful that you can be proud of. Cut some clips to put on tictoc if you really want something there.

You’re being told what to do.

>They didn’t force my freedom
Of course. No one can force anyone’s freedom. But you can gently manipulate here and there to make them give it to you anyway.

>They also don’t deal in absolutes like Sith unironically. Like in fact you tend to do
Truth is simple, what I am suggesting is whenever someone tries to make the truth complicated, they do so on purpose to keep you from it. It’s why I said ‘careful’. Your choice to take care or not.

Yes I could post longer things on YouTube. Or on TikTok but not really pushed by the algorithm but that would be something else. But indeed I may try to do both

I don’t think they manipulate me and the time limitation is just a question of the medium/situation.
