I'm 34. Recently I was bored and scrolling through Facebook which I haven't used in probably 5 years. All my high school friends are married, have been for 10 years. They've all been at their careers now for the same amount of time. They all have at least 1 kid, many of them 2 or 3. They all have houses and 2 cars.

I have none of these things. I haven't worked in years because I'm mentally disabled. PTSD, parents used to beat me when I was a child, you know the drill. I live in a shit hole apartment that takes my entire cheque as rent. I'm in a great relationship but neither of us want kids or to get married. But the thing is, I look at all my peers and think, is that what I'm supposed to be doing? Have I fucked up? Am I "old"? I never considered myself old until looking at all these old friends who used to be spry, dress sexy and go out at night, get laid, now they're wearing vests or long, loose dresses and just sit around in their back yards doing nothing. Their lives are just go to work, come home, raise kids, watch tv, go to sleep. Weekend, sleep in, sit in the backyard drinking beer, watch tv, go to bed. Go on vacation abroad 2 times a year.

Is this what I'm supposed to be doing? Did I fuck up? I had no qualms with my life until I saw literally EVERYONE I USED TO KNOW living the EXACT SAME LIFE.

They're old, and you're not, anon. You didn't have the start they did. You started from way in the back, and there is no shame in living your life how you are living it as long as you are holding yourself to your own standards and not those of others. I'm the same age as you, been married, divorced, and for the last seven years I didn't even try to have a relationship with a woman. Now I'm going back to school, and you know what? I feel great, and I think things are going to go better because I finally feel like I'm alive. You had to find your stable state first, and now that you've done that, you're free to do whatever you want. Don't compare yourself to others. As long as you keep moving forward, that's progress and nothing to be ashamed of, especially if you have someone special by your side cheering you on. Don't give up.

Just keep working towards your goals, anon. Write down what you want to achieve. Short-term and long-term. And work towards it every day.

I think the worst thing you could do is have a child just for the sake of it, just because it's what everyone else is doing. Children need to be loved. You got where you are today partly because your parents didn't love you. You're going to do better than your parents.

i'm 61. i also went through the shitty childhood. i was close to 30 when i finally pulled my head out of my ass. sobered up, got married, held down a shitty job, we had kids, found better jobs over the years, etc.. divorced when i was 50, remarried now for a while, not wealthy but not weeping.

you haven't missed anything with regards to having kids, really. it's a huge pain in the ass to raise a family and maintain a relationship. ignore the vomit that is spewed forth on facebook, thats just people shining their own shit and putting it on display.

anyway just take care of yourself, save every fuckken penny you can, and enjoy what you got. get yourself out there and find another sperg that has your preferred set of genitalia if you feel you need the companionship.
