I just gave myself a great ear cleaning or "lavage" using my usual simple method, and now I can hear much better! I am going to give you some detailed and unsolicited advice on how to clean out your ears, because I really do know better than you on this topic! Keep this in mind the next time you have an ear all plugged up.
Have you ever had an ear all plugged up with earwax? Maybe tried chemicals, standing in the shower, using a Q-Tip or (worse) a toothpick or something like that? Don't do that! In general, you can (and should) safely blow the earwax out of your ear using only three things: one of these blower tool things, warm/hot water, and patience. Nothing else.
If your ear is all plugged up, the essential tool is one of these rubber/plastic blower things. If you buy a kit with other parts, you can safely throw the rest out. In fact, I recommend doing so, only keeping the blower. What you want to do is to get the blower and get a chair and get near a sink where you feel comfortable and can be by yourself a while, tilting your head as needed. Take off your shirt, if you're doing it right you're gonna get wet. The problem is both physical and thermal: there's a chunk of sticky crap (earwax) in your ear, and you want to remove it. You can soften it up with warm/hot water, and eventually "the big turd" will pop out. This takes time, but if you keep consistently blasting it with warm enough water, it'll pop out. It goes like this.
1) Take the blower and maybe a chair, and get comfortable near the sink. Safety first. Get warm-hot-ISH water running, not too hot. Fill the blower. Blast your ear gently, testing, making sure not too hot. Adjust temperature up until it's pretty warm/hot, but not scalding of course.
2) Once you're at a decent comfort level, keep re-filling and keep blasting. Increase pressure and temperature without causing injury. Just keep doing it, again and again. You will eventually feel crap coming loose. Done!
