Is it possible to get into a trade as an autistic weirdo? My only real interest is playing video games, do I have to get into sports? I'm really quiet and I don't know if I'd be able to handle the work culture.

Any time you get these people to elaborate, its either "I tried it and it didnt work out for me (sometimes because I approached it stupidly or wrong, or the local trades just weren't hiring) so now I think all of it is a lie" or "Ive never done it but every time I ask online for advice on how to make good money with zero training people just keep saying trades and it annoys me therefore it must be bad"

If you aren't lazy and aren't a fuckup no one cares. One of the guys in our shop is pretty autistic but he works had and is good at his job so everyone likes him.

I work in a factory and the electrical maintenance guys range from one dude in his late 40's that has to take anti-psychotics every 4 hours and you know when he skipped a dose because he starts telling you about how the rats in the walls really run the front office to the guy in his 30's that owns 3 harleys and about 200 guns and spends all of his free time rising motorcycles to gun ranges to the young 20's guy that is about 6'4" tall, doesn't wait on the forklift to pull the 285 lbs panels off the main press, he just does it himself by hand, and has Hatsune Miku stickers all over his water bottle, lunch pail, and locker.

Both of them have a lot of math. We had a guy working as a machine operator at my factory who was going to uni and worked nights, was getting a degree in business and found out the guys in the electrical shop make more than he would in his field for years so he applied for a transfer to their team.
he couldn't pass the math test to become an apprentice. He was really upset about that, too, and kept telling the rest of us 'but I have a degree!'/
He went to some local company for two years but came back, his pay as a machine operator was the same and the benefits were better

I do HVAC, not a ton of math in service until you get to troubleshooting with pressures (which is a great way to do it but not the only way) and the math you DO use is usually conversion between metric and imperial, or basic adding/subtracting.

In install there's a good bit more, but if you can read a tape measure you'll be fine.

this. your likeability is directly tied your work. if you can be left alone to complete tasks without having to bother someone every five seconds and completing it without having your coworker come fix your fuckup after the fact. the only thing that would piss me off about an autistic gaming weirdo is if they lack basic hygiene and if they're so brain-fried they have to have stuff repeated to them a million times + not being able to stay off their fucking phone for more than a few seconds.

Is this mostly for being 1 or 2 years in or do people understand arrested development for the first 3 months if the products aren't fucked up at the end due to them asking 100 questions to avoid mistakes and they actually learn from their mistakes?
