It’s been like two weeks since I’ve noticed that a friend of mine oversleeps. They usually sleep 10-12h and I’m really worried about their behaviour. Yesterday they went to sleep at 9:30PM and they still didn’t wake up. What can I do to help them?

Have you tried asking them if they are feeling alright?

Get them to go to a doctor. There are all kinds of possible causes - depression, OSA, narcolepsy; it could be anything.

Just talked to them. We talked about serious topics such as cutting amd suicide. I know that they don’t want this, they are just confused and living a bad moment.

Could be depressed. Could just really like sleeping. Possible hormone axis dysregulation. Personally I like to spend as little time conscious as I can these days.

Teenagers generally need 8 to 10 hours of sleep per night. However, the exact amount can vary from individual to individual, with some needing more and some needing less. Getting enough sleep is crucial for their developing brains, physical growth, and overall well-being, impacting their ability to focus, learn, and make good decisions.

I know most people are not in a situation where they can help directly but try being there for your buddy and consider asking them to see some pro help in case they are reaaly going through it, just because some topics are better helped by a professional.
