the same eight people post the same shit over and over for months. schooler, Howie, the guy that quietly takes pictures of girls butts, the self hating minority guy, the guy that "doesn't get" plot lines in literature and movies

every single thread is either a repeat from someone who will make no attempt to get better, or a gimmick thread that doesn't actually describe a real situation

it's extremely hard to be helpful in good faith to either of those kinda people

It's always happened not just on this board, all the boards. I've been browsing since 2006. You post long enough and respond to stubborn people long enough, eventually you catch bad faith. You instantly assume the next person with a complaint is as hopeless or stubborn or non-receptive as the last. It's an easy mental habit to form because we're all anonymous and all under the same uniform identity. Most users aren't here for dialogue or insight or anything. They're here to blow off some steam and dump their tension via arguing.

I think that's fine by the way. Arguing clears the air same way as a thunderstorm clears out air pressure. So long as there's sportsmanship at the end and an effort to pay some respect afterwards it's all good.
