I'm worried that I'm starting to like this site more than any other social media.

I got into a stupid fucking argument on Twitter today, and it completely ruined my mood. I've also been using 4chan a bit lately to check it out. And honestly? I feel like this community is so much better than the shit on Twitter.
Like, Twitter is nothing but buzz words and saying woke bullshit so people like you. Here people actually have discussions. This is the site where I saw a nazi and a jew having an actually civil argument. How does that even work.
Like, someone here called me a retard as a response to a question I had, but in context it felt like it was said in a completely friendly way.
No one throws shit at people like "you're a fascist and you're problematic and my dad left me".

I'm scared that's a bad sign. I've always been told 4chan is a site for weird people and bigots or whatever. But it honestly feels like a much much better community than anything I've been in. Is that a good thing? Or am I getting brainwashed?

People don't like 4chan because reading anonymous skreeds from outside of your hugbox is scary, if you're retarded. The reality is people say things that need to be heard and things that are completely retarded all the time. It's good for you, pausing every now and then to ask
> is this fag calling me a nigger an incel who wants to strangle tranny, a tranny who wants to strangle himself, a glownigger psyop, or a 5th dimension jedi who knows the secrets of the universe?

Yes yes exactly. It's so refreshing to not be stuck in a Twitter echo chamber. Also seeing people feeling free to say whatever they want. And even seeing people with different opinions not immediately getting harassed to the bottom of hell.
I'm quitting Twitter and staying here.
(Though I still need to learn the terminology here...)

4chan tends to be less of an echo chamber instead of twitter. Not /pol/ ofc. I wouldn't say it's a community, it's more like of a place where you can be more yourself. Best case scenario is if you can take it not too serious, and worst case if you forget to hide your powerlevel once you are too long here and turn into a chud. I never user xitter anyway, just going from tiktok and here there is not that much difference in how racist people are, they just write in nicer words on tiktok and are even less original than here.

4chan is nice for a few reasons.

First of all, people are more honest about what they really feel. There is less need to pretend to fit in with the crowd. You can talk openly about taboo subjects without reprisal because no one knows who you are.

Also, the anonymous nature of posting here means that there is less reward for showing off and being popular like the other sites where your reputation is tied to your identity. The kind of behavior where people repost each other’s content and then claim ownership to be more popular doesn’t work here.

Personally, I would never ruin my real life by tying my identity down to something embarrassing, so I only post that stuff here. It’s good to know there is a place like this.

> I've always been told 4chan is a site for weird people and bigots or whatever.

Also, 4chan is only dangerous to people who are dumb and gullible. So if you believe everything you read on the internet, you should probably leave this site forever. Just use your brain to discern the sensible posts from the trolls and you’ll be fine.
