Don't listen to this joker, get all the partying, the alcohol and drug use out of your system in the first year. Start hitting the books on the second year and never look back.

Do the assigned readings and be ready to participate in class. Be prepared for it to take up to 4 hours to prep for each individual class. Youll see pretty quickly who in your section is engaged and who is just browsing online shopping or watching sports on their computer during class. Find 4 or so engaged people you like and make a study group. People make a big deal about outlining your notes before exams, but I didn't bother with it. I just found someone else's outline or read through all my notes. A lot of 1st year law school can be borderline hazing, so if the teachers try to dominate you or insult your intelligence know its just a bullshit game, and only the exams matter, not class. But you should always try to do well in class.

1st year definitely will be stressful though, and 2nd semester has the super annoying brief project. So just know if youre depressed its just the stress and youll get through it.

No, the first year of law school is the one where grades actually matter.

Also just graduated and taking the bar next week, but to build off this anon: figure out what kind of studying works best for you. For some people that's flash cards, and for other people that's just reading off someone else's outline. Personally I preferred making my own outlines as a form of review and it worked great for me.

Also as to classes: take notes on the cases you're assigned. Either annotate/highlight the book or make a case brief (a one page bulleted summary, basically). A bit of preparation will save you from a lot of embarrasment. Or just shell out for Quimbee, but a lot of 1L professors are wise to that and will flame you for it if they catch on.

most of the posts above are bull, you can party through and will be a-okay, law school is piss easy and burger law school is even easier cause you guys are retarded
the profession itself is awful and miserable, you make disgusting money but the hours and isolation and insignificance of it all makes it tough to ride out, unless you're some patrick bateman type
go do state-side work immediately if you get caught up in the big law it's over for you cuh
