For some people that's flash cards, and for other people that's just reading off someone else's outline. Personally I preferred making my own outlines as a form of review and it worked great for me.
Also as to classes: take notes on the cases you're assigned. Either annotate/highlight the book or make a case brief (a one page bulleted summary, basically). A bit of preparation will save you from a lot of embarrasment. Or just shell out for Quimbee, but a lot of 1L professors are wise to that and will flame you for it if they catch on.
