This questions for the guys. I moved in with my bf recently, and he has this weird smell in his apartment and idk what it is. My brother had the same smell in his room and it's a kind of astringent smell that falls somewhere between old cheese and cat pee. That doesn't really describe it super well but thats the best comparison I can offer.

The smell is strongest in two spots my bf hangs out at most: his computer desk, and the bedroom, but like I just changed the bed sheets and everything and shampooed the carpets and the smell is still there and idk what to do.

Idk if this is some kind of guy thing but he seems unaware of it himself. What is the source of this smell and how do I get rid of it before we have company over?

It's armpit smell. You can't do anything about it, maybe turn the air conditioner on, get a large fan to move the air around, lysol the surfaces, have him wear perspirant and shirts at all times, and change them most important, have them put in a bag when dirty, put activated charcoal around.

The smell doesn't come from sweat. The smell comes from fermentation and only shows up like a couple of hours after the armpit was cleaned, and may stay in the room for a while.

I personally release some musky smell from my nape, it's disgusting but I can't do anything about it.
