Sorry if this post is wordy, but to give some background, I'm 22 years old, I live alone in my own apartment in a very cheap crappy town, I've been working at McDonalds for about 3 years now since I was 19, it makes okay enough money to support myself even if I struggle a little bit, this might seem like a dream situation for some, but it makes me miserable. I get treated like a subhuman as everyone around me who's been there less gets promoted and then steps all over me, I'm a quiet person, and anytime I speak up or show anger I just get dogpiled, I know it's just McDonalds, but being a wage slave drives me insane, even if it is just for 8 hours a day for 5 days a week. I'm an indie game developer, and a pretty competent musician as I've made decent enough side money off of it, but probably not enough to pay rent. I've got enough savings to live off of for about 2 years and a half, I thought of quitting to pursue working on an indie game, full time, as I've released one that was free, about a year ago that was a moderate success.

I don't really know if I should take more risks, as I've considered college, but it seems like a waste of time these days, and I've got no car as I can't afford it, I just don't want to be 30 regretting all my choices cause I played it safe. If anyone could give me suggestions/advice I'd appreciate it. Maybe getting another job might be a good option, but I don't really think I'd ever be happy working a 9 to 5 where I just do soulless labor and pretend to be happy.

you could try being a costco manager or something similar
I definitely wouldn't recommend college these days since it's literally no better than a GED according to recent studies (regardless of what degree you pick)
You could also try frauding neetbux by saying your work gave you permanent incurable anxiety (yes this is an actual diagnosis you could get not even joking) and then applying for disability

You sound alright fren. Keep moving on up into some office job and if you're lucky you'll end up a manager who hangs out all day with your coworker friends. The easy key to a satisfying job is being surrounded by coworkers you genuinely like. Then your job can be totally soulless but still be pleasant enough.
Making indie games isn't a good idea for making money. More reliable and satisfying is to get involved with the scene, i.e. hosting indie gaming promotional events, organizing other people. Similar thing with music, playing music usually sucks, but getting involved in the business side is a more reliable career choice.

What about Job Corps or an apprenticeship? I wish I were your age again, man. I'm fucking 33 and don't even have my own place. You're 11 years younger than me and have your own fucking apartment. Be grateful. Seriously.

This is what my late mother did. Somehow managed to get into financial management without a HS diploma and made decent money.

I got pretty lucky and got a really cheap apartment in a low income area, I have to make a lot of sacrifices to survive, I.E walking everywhere, there's no transit where I live, I'm blessed to be in such a situation, but I desire so much more out of life, and am confused on what to do, as time is valuable.
