It feels like everyone defers to my bf more than me when we're it together. I feel like it's because I'm short, and he has a habit of standing beside me which makes me look smaller.

I feel like people should take me more seriously. I'm the one paying for stuff normally since I make more money, I should be the one everybody treats like the decisionmaker.

I don't want to like, lord authority over my bf or anything I just want to feel like I'm as respected as he is. I don't normally wear heels, but would being a little taller from those help?

You need to understand that it's 2025, woke is dead, women are property and property isn't respected for its opinions. Just do what he tells you and stop worrying about shit that doesn't matter.

Doe stour bf do most of the initiating and talking with the public or in groups? Is he the one who is socially engaging and talkative while you just loom around like a shadow and say nothing?

If so, that's exactly why people defer to him and not you. Nothing to do with height.

Are you gay or a woman? If the latter, heels might help a bit but it's definitely because you're a woman. Especially if he's actually engaging with them. If he was shy, avoidant, and submissive they MIGHT look to you instead. But usually after failed attempts.
Exception is anything "woman" related, such as kids. Then they'll completely ignore the dad even if he's the full time caregiver.
