Why would a strobe light get rid of my anxiety? I'm not saying it would make me anxious but just get rid of it by looking at it for a couple of a seconds? I have myclonic epilepsy if that is helpful. Should I buy a strobe light machine or is using my phone enough? Should I not do this because of my epilepsy?

A simple strobe probably won't, but something that flashes in the correct rhythm and in the correct part of your vision, tends to promote brain wave patterns of a similar frequency. So you can shift your brain activity from fast ("beta") rhythms to slower (alpha or theta) patterns, which are associated with relaxation. I used to have a device like this which helped me get to sleep: the visual part was like a pair of sunglasses with red LEDs on the inner surface; you plugged in ear buds as well for an audio component.

However, anything involving flashing lights should absolutely be avoided if you're epileptic, so please don't try it.

Strobes are dangerous for epileptics. Where I live (UK) the TV has to warn you if any strobes are about to be shown
