Should I cut off my only friend because he spends all day before responding to my texts? Fucking pisses me off.

Cut off is pretty drastic but I understand why you feel that way. It can really sting to give more than you get.

I have a friend like that and it turned out he hates texting and prefers phone calls. He is just old-fashioned I guess. So now if I call him to ask to hang out he usually answers almost immediately or calls back if he misses the call.
The next time you hang out with your friend IRL ask him if he prefers calls or texting. If he does prefer texting then you could bring up how he's slow to respond to your texts, ideally in a lighthearted/joking way so you don't come off as desperate.

Responding to messages takes effort and not everyone likes to stop what they are doing immediately whenever their phone buzzes
