Today was my last chance to ask a girl out that was doing a clinical rotation at my job. Other coworkers were always around making it impossible to ask her out. Even towards the end of the shift she was sitting with a co worker, waiting on another girl to come in so they could all leave together.

It was impossible to ask this girl out, yet why do I feel like the biggest failure for not trying anyway?

All I know from talking to her on and off during a few shifts is that she works at a local bar on the weekends. Do I visit one day and try for her number or just forget about all this?

That's not "impossible", that's just you feeling too scared to ask her out in front of others.

Because it wasn't impossible, you just let cowardice beat you and now feel like less of a man for it as you should. Yeah the temporary discomfort of doing it in public is annoying but it's not like anything bad would result from it.

OK. I can't deny that because thats actually how I feel about it. But on the other hand..
Why would I risk my job by actively pursuing a girl in front of a bunch of co workers who have nothing better to do than spread gossip and report behavior they don't like? Even worse if its a rejection because now the whole shift is weird.

If your coworkers are big enough dicks to do something like this over something as innocent as asking a girl out then you need to find another workplace anyway because they'll eventually find another reason to screw you over regardless.

It's only weird if you make it weird. If she says no, accept it with a friendly smile and a small joke and keep going as though nothing happened. 99% of the reason why girls hate having to let down guys directly is because a lot of dudes don't know how to act normally afterwards.

LOL. Your problem is your extreme cowardice, simple as that. Nothing will happen if she were to decline your suggestion of a date and someone else were to overhear.

So which is the real problem? That it's someone at your workplace, or that you'd have to do it in front of a bunch of other people?
If it's the former, the dilemma is solved. Don't shit where you eat, that's that.
But if you don't acre about that and it's the latter, maybe try asking something like "can I borrow you for a second?" and step and ask her somewhere that's not directly in front of whoever she's sitting with at the moment.
Might backfire if she asks "why?" and is too insistent in knowing then and there what it's about. And I guess your coworkers might've been able to infer what this is about, anyway.
But now you didn't do anything and feel like "the biggest failure" for not trying, so could it really have been that much worse?
