Is your partner pretty much your only friend? Should I give up on trying to meet people or keep trying?

yeah man, people shed friends every 5 years or so.

People graduate, they move, they focus on their career, they get a wife and kids, their hobbies and lifestyle change, etc.

Not to say that you can't also be making new friends every 5 years or so, but it'll be different. The older you get the less free time you have and not everyone wants to be like smoking weed at the skate park or playing smash bros on the game every weekend when they're 40 years old

You'll need to move on from old friends because they will inevitably move on from you.

Yes, completely normal. Those who wanna stick around will stick around and that's how you know who your true friends are.

Funny enough, no.
Good friends are like gold, few and far between. Real ones will always support each other, it's what makes the difference between a bro and a brother. Only in modern times has people accepted not maintaining connections, both of love and of friendship.

>WOAH WHUH YOURE TELLING ME I HAVE TO PUT EFFORT IN MAINTAINING A BOND? NAH BRO ITS NORMAL TO JUST NEGLECT EVERYONE YOU GIVE A SHIT ABOUT TRUST ME BRO I AINT MISERABLE AND ALONE OR WITH A NEW GROUP OF SUPERFICIAL "BUDS" THAT TOTALLY ALLIGN WITH MY CURRENT LIFE SITUATION. SURELY I CAN TRUST THESE NEW PEOPLE TO BE THERE FOR ME WHEN IM DOWN.

Somewhat normal, yes. Having some long term friends is also normal, but it's hard in the context of a modern nation where everyone is socially anxious

Friends - people you can rely on to abandon you like a hot potato when you're down.

Those aren't friends, those are snakes. Get better at interpersonal relationships and you won't have that happen to you.
>t. I am literally still best friends with a dude I've known since 4th grade

Yes. There was a study showing that the average adult man in the UK had less than 5 friends at any given time.
