Basically everything
>Name is a cashgrab, remake is WWD in name only and nothing connects it to the original everyone loved
>Music is forgettable
>Narrator is nothing special
>Storytelling is weak even without constantly being interrupted. All that ever happened was that herbivores walked around and had to avoid getting eaten, which they usually did because the predator stepped on a fucking twig at the worst possible moment
>Paleontology segments were baffling. Killed the pacing of whatever story they were trying to tell and explained very little science behind what was actually going on. Also tried to be diegetic in a way that ultimately made it make even less sense because why the fuck do paleontologists have a 3D printer in the field? Why are they explaining what a T. rex brain is like to each other? Is it everyone's first day on the job? Do they make the same poop jokes every time they find a coprolite? Why didn't they just do regular talking head segments?
>Paleontology segments were put in because people are so retarded now that a significant portion of the population think dinosaurs are fictional, but clearly staging all of the dig site footage is only going to strengthen that belief because none of it even feels organic to begin with
>Biodiversity is at an all time low, there were max 4 species in any given ecosystem and there's a 50% chance one of those species was Edmontosaurus and another was an azhdarchid pterosaur
>Reused models and recycled footage everywhere which only makes the biodiversity factor feel worse
>Incredibly jarring stock sound effects compared to the iconic sound design of the original
>No practical effects, no gore/uncensored violence. Nothing on the level of the dead T. rex fetus, the bisected Ophthalmosaurus carcass or the cannibalistic Coelophysis. Animals can't even die in a flood without a cut to black.
I genuinely have no idea who this documentary is even for. Kids will be as bored to tears as I was.

I think the male Lusotitan was pretty good, but the colors on almost everything else didn't win me over, it was either bland or just looked off. The weird pastels on the Albertosaurus/Gorgosaurus faces never looked right to me even in preview images. I hate to give the movie credit, but the blue Gorgosaurus mog them so hard.

The colors here are vibrant and seem a lot more intentional, while the Albertosaurus's pastel face colors feel very washed out and almost like gradients. There's better examples of decorative facial patterns all over paleoart. I hate to invoke it, but even the Valley of the T. rex gigachunk is more visually striking.

Birds can fly away from any danger, so camouflage doesnt matter much to them. Most flightless birds aren't colorful, barring the cassowary, but they have almost no natural predators, and even then the chicks are very much camouflaged. Dinosaurs that would hunt and be hunted continuously would all need some form of camouflage.

I'm just curious who this was meant to appeal to? It does not appeal to realismfags or kids that want to see awesome monster fights. The animation is sloppy and you see actual errors on screen, the violence is more sanitized than a nature documentary, the designs are too speculative or just bland and unappealing to look at, every trailer has people demoralized, no one even wants to pirate it, what's the marketing strategy, They aren't allergic to money are they?

Fact: There is nothing wrong with making baseless speculations
To say "Carnotaurus COULD of had used its tiny arms for sexual display" is fine
To say "This sauropod COULD of had inflatable sacks along it's neck for communication and sexual display is fine
To say "This sauropod COULD have has an inflatable ballsack ontop of its head" is not fine only because it is so absurd and ridiculous and stupid looking and not even reasonable

Honestly, despite the show's flaws, this might be one of the best portrayals T Rex on TV. They didn't hesitate to show it as a cold, brooding, formidable predator throughout its entire screen time, to the point the Triceratops had to make use of its momentary distraction to kill it.

Being a hunter is all they showed T. rex doing, you’d think there’s nothing else to even being a T. rex, which for all the faults of the original show’s portrayal of T. rex, that wasn’t one of them. And only a fully grown rex can be a threat to this baby Triceratops because the budget is spread so thin we can’t possibly afford a teenage rex model (it would be another Albertosaurus reskin if they did)

I think the rex model was just recolored for Albertosaurus in the Deinosuchus episode. So I guess the model is meant to be a half and half between the two species which it does an ok job at. At least they bothered to give it a different color scheme unlike 2025’s “Gorgosaurus.”
