Is it just me or does the colossal squid look way more canny than the giant squud?

Never seen that word without an un- in front of it had to look it up to see what exactly it meant. It's theoretical but people suspect the giant is more of a chaser and can move faster and colossals are more ambush like. Probably not a huge distinction for squids compared to the other more elaborate feeding strategies. I suspect the larger mantle volume gives it some intense short burst capacity where as the narrower more missile like giants have more ability to sustain but slower acceleration.

It looks way too thin on this depiction, this how it actually looks in real life:

Very short tentacles and thick body, similar to a cuttlefish.

Why are we told that the baby colossal is the first "live" colossal squid when this video exist?

I can easily imagine someone seeing a 30 foot long squid and then going to his friend saying "Guys a 50 foot squid attacked my boat!" and another day at a party they go "hey can you tell the story of the 80 foot squid that attacked you?"

Dying? It was dragged up because it was hooked onto that fish. Might be in deep shit now that it is at the surface, but that was a grown live and healthy colossal squid.
