My dad's canary stopped singing like a month and half ago and now is looking pretty lethargic and sitting at the bottom of the cage a lot.
Do vets do anything for small birds or will it be a waste of money?

Anon, you don't live in a mine do you? But seriously, did anything change about two months ago, something new in the environment? Do you cook with Teflon pots and pans? As for a vet, you could ask around but you'd have to find a veterinarian that specializes in avian care and that's expensive.

No, not really. The only thing I can recall is changing his cage for a bigger one but this was at the end of last year and he was happy and singing loudly until the beginning of spring but since then the poor little guy not only doesn't sing but doesn't move as much. Still eats fine.
