get one of these. They make some that have a stand and a UV light to draw the fly right to it, or you can swing away. The nice part is you don't need to hit them against something and splatter fly guts all over your stuff. It's super satisfying to swing and just hear a super loud ZAAAAAP!!

use them as training, you should be able to kill or catch them with your hands alone. My technique is wait until they land, slowly approach with blade hands about 2 feet apart, then slap my hands together about 4-6 inches above the fly. More often than not the fly survives being smacked between palms, but it will be stunned for a few seconds, which is long enough to grab it by a wing and throw it outside, adding it back into the food chain.

Flies have such fast response time, that we appear to be moving in slow motion even if you swat them as fast as you can.
You VERY SLOWLY move a cup ontop of one, and to them they won't even see it as a moving object. It's super easy to trap them if you just go slowly. Wait till they're resting on a window, capture n release.

they're natural explorers, much like humans. They're see your home as a cave and are mapping the interior. It's not their fault the exit open/close at a whim and there are false exits (windows) all over the place.

the key is apparently to approach them from behind, they don't have that many sensors that way. it's worked well for me so far.

I bee got in my house the other day and I sucked it up with a vacuum. Real easy. If you have a fly problem get light traps. You can attach the bigger ones to a wall and it catches everything. All the tiny little nats and shit
