Why do "people" think their ugly French bulldog struggling to breathe and suffocating everyday is cute and call it "snoring"?
something you need to know
having empathy is not a voluntary, conscious act. empathy is not theory of mind either, and you can have theory of mind without a shred of empathy. empathy is an animal instinct. dogs, rats, and even frogs experience empathy to some degree. women typically have stronger empathy than men, which means their brain short circuits, identifies an infant-like form, and automatically links its behaviors with the human equivalents and makes this a strongly held conviction before they have a chance to consciously consider it. it is a cute snoring baby and they must nurture it.
men have less empathy (but equal and sometimes superior theory of mind) so before you can "feel" that it's snoring, with reinforcement from its infant-like archetypical form, your conscious mind swoops in and says "hey, shut up, healthy dogs barely snore, this thing is struggling to breathe".
