Notice how birds move their head around so rapidly like that. Is it not because of their high ass heart rate bpm?

Also, notice how squirrels move their body around so rapidly, sorta the same way a bird moves their head.

>human heart: 60 - 100 bpm
>rooster: 250 - 300
>sparrow: 450
>squirrel: 450
>falcon: 600 - 900
>humming bird - 1000

High metabolism due to being smaller and having to dodge fast predators. They live life on .5x playback speed. Birds move their heads a lot because their eyeballs can't rotate like ours.

I thought it was because of sensory adaptation. Like they literally stop seeing something if they don't move their head. Our eyes wiggle in their sockets and blink a lot to prevent it happening to us. But birds have limited eye mobility so they move their heads for the same effect.

That exactly right. Also, the reason many species bob their heads as they walk is cuz they have gyroscopes in their heads. Their heads can stay in position as their bodies move about so as to watch wtf is going on around them with better precision.

This is also why indie film makers sometimes attach cameras to chickens for impromtu camera stabilizer

it's because they can't move their eyes so they move the whole head instead.
We move our eyes around rapidly like that instead.
