All the time we see in media and books about how male fathers are not allowed around their children because they will "eat them", but i have yet to see any exaples? Are people just nervous about animals that seel individualism so they just make up fanfiction?

Depends on the animal, in some species like lions, the female become receptive to mating again after losing her kids, so males will sometime try to kill a female's kids to fuck her.

Female rats will keep males away to stop them killing competition before it's a threat but then they'll kill the young if the pup is weak and might be a burden on the group, guess it beats a balcony on the winter

it really depends, but infanticide is really common regardless of sex, like cats will at their own kittens, well most animals will eat their children or kill them or just abandon them if theyre fucked up, its why adult albinos are really rare, but usually its because of competition, like in the case of hippos
