I too remember how fucking excited I was to see T.Rex fossils at the Smithsonian when I was younger. I really should go back, I'm only a six hour drive away now. Next year, for the 4th of July maybe.

You mean a derivative hack who copied the most successful group of apex land predators in Earth's history

To anyone who's seen a T Rex fossil irl, are they as impressive as they seem in Jurassic Park? Always been a dream of mine to see one of these bad boys up close.

Who cares if you did it first if you did it badly. Being mogged in a niche you invented just makes you even more of a loser

Fragmentary mr meat dinosaur

depends on the quality of the mount. A badly mounted cast can really look underwhelming/give you a warped view of an animal.

Nigga the giga holotype is 70% complete. The issue is nobody bothered to do an Osteology paper or monograph.

Chicago anon here
Every time I hit the museums, I drag whatever girl I'm with to the dinosaur section because we have one of the most complete skeletons, my girl Sue. I'm a tall fuck (6+) and only come up to her breast or so. She would just need to look down a bit and bite me once to bisect me. You really get a sense for the scale and power of these animals when you're up close and looking at smaller members of their clades that are still as tall as a man and likely ten times as massive.

They are crazy robust, a full grown average t-rex is a bit over the mass of 100 average humans put together.

Sue is a peak mount, desu. some others I recommend personally are the Giraffatitan room at the museum of natural history Berlin, and "Dippy" cast at the natural history museum London/Carnegie museum of natural history.

Tb h I've always preferred Scotty over Sue. Sue looks a bit too short legged and "fat" whereas Scotty looks large while still looking like a traditional Tyrannosaurus.

I love how they made it so fucking fat it can't even position its legs properly. Of course the faintest peach fuzz is present on the head.
