Who beats who?

I've read once that when in captivity, lions usually come on top, despite being smaller.
Could be because tigers often don't fight other tigers, whereas lions are built to fight other lions in order to mate.

Although they were probably comparing an African lion to a Bengal tiger. Considering other species it must be more like
Siberian tiger > African Lion > Bengal Tiger > Asian lion

Why are tiger and lion fans so fucking weird? they act like their big cat of choice is a fearless and unstoppable monster. I once saw a video of a tiger clearly submitting to a sloth bear because it would rather not fuck with it and people in the comments were going "TIGER FEARS NOTHING TIGER IS INVINCIBLE"

That being said, don't the odds depend on what kind of tiger we're talking about? I don't think any lion is beating a Siberian tiger, except for maybe a Barbary Lion.

Depends on the subspecies. There is quite a bit of overlap. Tigers top out as bigger but the question should really be asked assuming parity...otherwise what's the point?
