There are two known incidents of gorilla on human violence, both against middle aged women, neither resulting in permanent injury
that just means they got away with it
"recorded" history of the gorilla only goes back to the mid-19th century. Before that Europeans only had scant reports of them and many assumed they were mythical. But the couple of pre-19th century reports by europeans are accurate in many details and record them as dangerous and known to kill natives, by the kills seem to be second hand.
>>5007467 (OP)Gorillas are overall less dangerous than chimps. They have a more gentle and understanding temperment whereas chimps are a lot more prone to going psycho.
yet many cases of human-on-gorilla casualties. Really makes you think
>>5007467 (OP)Gorillas seem chill so long as you stay off their turf and dont challenge them. They arent crazy bastards like chimps or murder machines like bears. I imagine their reputation largely stems from their imposing stature. The bear vs gorilla hypothetical pisses me off because bears are 20x more dangerous and ferocious than 'rillas and people only think a 'rilla is an even match because its big.
>>5007539people keep chimps in their home though thus their violence
>>5007467 (OP)One of those was provoked by the woman being a moron
>On 18 May 2007, Bokito responded to children throwing rocks at him by jumping over the water-filled ditch that separated his enclosure in Rotterdam from the public; he attacked a woman, dragging her around for tens of metres and inflicting bone fractures as well as more than a hundred bite wounds. He subsequently entered a nearby restaurant, causing panic among the visitors. During this encounter, three more people were injured as a result of the panic. Bokito was eventually tranquilized and placed back in his cage>The woman who was attacked had been a regular visitor to the great apes' enclosure, visiting an average of four times per week. She had a habit of touching the glass that separated the public from the gorillas, while making eye contact with Bokito and smiling at him. Although smiling is often associated with submissive or non-aggressive behavior, in gorillas eye contact is a practice that is discouraged by primatologists, as apes are likely to interpret eye contact as a challenge or a form of aggressive display. Zoo employees had previously warned her against doing this, but she continued, claiming a special bond with him: in an interview with De Telegraaf she said, "When I smile at him, he smiles back".
>>5007489>Europeans only had scant reports of them and many assumed they were mythicalSome believe they're just humans in suits and always were. It would explain that aspect of it....
>>5007539Chimps have been recorded hunting gorillas. Pack it up, Rillabros, your "awesomebro beast that can beat 100 men" is a weak-willed, passive herbivore that has no serious predators.
>>5007914>small stature>intelligence equivalent of that of a small child>stone age tools>pack hunters>psycho violent behaviorChimps are basically irl goblins
>>5007467 (OP)He was about to go public with information on Hillary Clinton and Benghazi. This whole incident was political. That kid, not even a kid. He's a 37 year old crisis actor!
>>5007779To their credit they have insane muscle mass and grip strength compared to a human
Why do they have such fat asses? Result of being more terrestrial than Chimps and Orangs?
Most African tribes feared chimpanzees more than gorillas. Chimps were frequently identified with bush devils and demons. At best they were regarded as vermin like monkeys.
Gorillas were typically regarded as either degenerated humans or beasts seeking to rise up to humanity.
>no food scarcity, can be sustained entirely on leaves
>no natural predators
>gorilla troops do not allow inter group competition, there is one alpha silverback, any male relative that becomes a potential threat is driven off
basically the only instance of serious conflict between gorillas is for alpha status. if they encounter a sickly looking thin primate that's displaying submissive behavior they really have no reason to make a serious attack. chimp social relations are much more in flux, inter group competition over food, mating access and status is constant.

basically the only instance of serious conflict between gorillas is for alpha status. if they encounter a sickly looking thin primate that's displaying submissive behavior they really have no reason to make a serious attack. chimps have many more incentives for violence within and outside the group, if nothing else a straggling human might eat the fruit they want.
>>5007489Hanno's gorillae are probably chimps
they threw rocks and don't seem very large
>>5007914Chimps just steal babies to eat them
>>5007858what are your chances of going unsmashed if you just chilled in the restaurant eating? Maybe even sharing a a meal with the gorilla
>>5009844why do we even keep chimps around? Just put a $100 bounty on every chimp shot
>>5009748>no natural predatorssomeone didn't do their homework.
>>5009844Donโt knock the taste of a Madinka baby.
>>5008795because they spent a lot of their day sitting on it. if they sat directly on their ass bones it would be bad for their back
>>5007858proof unhinged white women would believe in weird shits just to feel whatever the fuck it is their husband cant give em
>>5009911I wouldnโt kill a gorilla for it but Iโve always wondered what gorilla tastes like. They are essentially a cow in primate form.
