I didn't, so I went on a little pod hunt.

Orange is easy to get by selecting for lack of pigment, but actual red is very rare.
Here's the reddest (but still mostly orange) isopods I could find. The reasonably available ones range from ~$15-$50 for 10, to ~$150-$600 for the mythic Actually Red isopods.
Prices and availability vary a lot, so you may find some of these way cheaper on a lucky day, but I doubt the bottom ones will be anywhere near common or reasonably priced for years.

Most of these are just picking your favorite orange desu. If you don't mind that, your options are unlimited and you can simply pick up some Powder Orange from a brick and mortar pet shop for like $10.

Thanks for the hunt and pointers anon. It sucks that the embers are so expensive, but at least the sinodillo looks pretty neat. I will have to look have a look at them and see if they are available where I am based. But yeah you're right about orange, I might pick some of those up for an orange theme setup some time lol

You could try Androniscus dentiger, but you have to go to Scotland to find them yourself. And only near Protestant churches, not Catholic ones.
That's not a joke.

Episcopalians
When they built the old churches, builders would mix blood into the mortar to give it a waterproofing quality. More modern churches use a different chemistry that these pods don't like for some reason.

The only photos of "hieroglyph isopods" seem to be from Nicky, and he lists it under Australia on his website with no other information beyond "Armadillidae sp."

I'm pretty sure it's actually just a highly accentuated morph of Cubaris murina (Armadillidae genus). Only one I can find with the right patterning and texture.
There's a million varieties of this species in the hobby because it's the shitter Cubaris for poor people who can't afford duckies.
Nicky might've found them at an expo as a project by some breeder who didn't manage to produce enough for them to be sold anywhere online. Or perhaps it has a different name and is only found in non-english communities. I think the only way you can get any more info is if you ask the photographer.

There was a taxonomic reordering in March, all former Merulanella species in the hobby are now under the new genus Ardentiella.

How do you know when the dirt is moist enough? Some big pods keep chilling on the wet side of the box, should I keep watering it until they move to the middle? Is is possible to overwater it? (I know there should be no water pools nor mold)

What species?

>Is is possible to overwater it?
Yeah, it should never be sopping and dripping water when you squeeze it. Some people have cork hides on both sides to easily monitor which side they're gravitating to.

Some common A. vulgare I picked in a forest, so they should be pretty sturdy.
>Some people have cork hides ln both sides
So they should be hanging around the dry side and water should be added when they're on the wet side?

Ideally both sides.
If they're all clinging to one side it means they really do not like other one, and probably find it hard to breathe.
It is safer to lean towards too wet than too dry though, obviously isopods don't all die when it rains, but they'll have trouble molting if they can't find a dryer area.
