To be clear, the Yellowstone volcano is much larger than but not nearly as active as the Campi Flegrei. There are tremors and tiny minieruptions there all the time. Yellowstone last erupted 650,000 years ago. The Campi Flegrei had an eruption so massive about 500 years ago, that it made a new volcano, Monte Nuovo (literally "new mountain") and its ash decimated a town that had been in continuous habitation since before the Roman era. So thoroughly buried was the town that it still hasn't been rediscovered to this day.
No wonder Neapolitans are crazy. You fucking have to be to build cities on top of known supervolcanoes. At least Wyoming has the good sense to be the most sparsely populated state in America.
