more like a gazillion years ago a weasel looking thing said "i love myself just the way i am" and stayed the same while all his friends turned into foxes, bears, seals, skunks, and badgers, among others.

I don't accept the badger as a member of this crew. You need to be shaped like a furry snake with legs to belong. Badgers can join the bears or something.
