What's the deal with these overly colored animals anyway. They not only look like total tryhards, but very garish as well. How about showing some dignity, like European birds, with their nice muted colors.

Birds can see into the UV range, those "muted" birds might look more like a scarlet macaw if you could see UV.

Color can be pretty important for determining the health of another conspecific animal, which is important for a social species like many birds. (also not like european birds aren't also vibrant, like this kingfisher I found by searching)

Also if it doesn't hurt an animal's success rate of survival, then its likely fine.
