Do we have a responsibility to keep them alive since we’ve created them, or would the truly humane thing to do is stop breeding them.

The humane solution is sterilizing the ones alive and criminalizing breeding flat faced, deformed dogs. What is more realistic is that the breed standard changes or the government forces breeders to do extensive outcrossing like Germans did to Pugs. If you spend a day around someone who owns a Frenchie, and you have had a normal dog, it's REVOLTING what they put up with
