You can desensitize a dog to hugging if you do it a lot but they naturally dislike it

You're not hugging it, it's just sitting on you. Try wrapping your arms around it and it will get uncomfortable.

That innocent thing you like doing with an animal that's completely harmless, cute, affectionate, caring, nurturing, helping, preventing it from dying?

Just dont exist around animals. Thats marginally the best thing to do, it would be better if you were never born but this will have to do. Just cease to exist.
