Basically, I want to get into selective or intergenerational breeding as a hobby. I find the concept interesting and I like the idea of seeing change overtime. Is this possible to do practically as a hobby and if so what animal? I am not picky bar fish, cycling and maintaining tanks has always been a fuss for me.

Isopod keeping has exploded in popularity in recent years, with many fancy species getting imported and new morphs emerging. Generally they're pretty easy to keep and will just breed automatically. If you have specific question you could try invoking the actual keepers in this thread >>5008512
