Really, you had a roughly 3 month window when they were a kitten to socialize them with water and bathing. Now you have to use drugs. Stick to the non-toxic ones, benadryl/gabapentin are dangerous things to play with.

Gabapentin is a really cruel thing to use as a sedative. It causes a weird distinctly conscious ataxia. The psychological effect is unpredictable.
