What area of the US is best for nature, the south or upper Midwest?

>deserts and grasslands? that's not nature. fuck that worthless shit.
>forest? that's nature. good!
No that's just your habitat preference

Early humans preferred forested riverbanks and coastlines with nearby forests to forage in and this is burned into your DNA

Alaska - nothing even comes close. Second would be the northern Rockies, then the less exploited areas of the north woods

Pretty much everything in the east and south and along the coasts has been terminally degraded. You find a few remnant scraps and """restored""" areas here and there but if you have ecological literacy and you know what they're supposed to look like then going to the south or the midwest is like visiting a mass grave.

Maybe anon is getting at how eerily quiet eastern forests are. Go to a forest in the Midwest and it's near constant noise with all the different animals around but the east cost is practically silent.

Bullshit. I lived in Maryland and you couldn't get the crickets to shut up. Same with cicadas when they're in season.

More like someone cut down most the trees, made it into farmland, and then planted trees of a different species in the forest.
