The bear. Just by sheer size and durability. And it has claws whereas gorillas don't. All a gorilla has going for it is size and teeth which the bear also has.

>Barangtu, a 312pound gorilla, never had a chance in his two-hour death struggle with a snarling 185-pound black panther. Zoo authorities and the owner of the two animals expressed the opinion that despite the weight advantage, Barangtu was fighting far out of his class. In fact, according to witnesses, the gorilla passed the - entire two hours seeking to ward off the savage onslaughts of the enraged panther. More than 400 persons were virtually hypnotized by the death struggle in a cage at a Liberty Lake animal show. When the battle was ended, the gorilla lay dead, mercifully murdered by show attendants. Before the attendants shot Barangtu, the panther had torn his arm off and inflicted numerous painful wounds.

In a weight matched fight the bear would win. It just has more predatory tools for that to happen.
In reality the bear would probably run away it's not looking for a fair fight. If it's not an easy kill they don't bother.

>500 pound
I thought it was bullshit and looked it up thinking adult bears actually weigh at least half a ton, but it's true, adult males allegedly weigh between 150 and 350 kilos, that means the fatties on shows like my 600 or my 1000 pound life weigh more than an adult male grizzly bear. God I hate fats, I wonder what would happen if we put them in a cage with a grizzly.

Only the coastal brown bear types exceed half a tonne. They can weigh over 700 kg but usually only when theyโ€™re packing on salmon fat before winter. Inland grizzlies arenโ€™t that much bigger than a lion or tiger on average

>The gorilla was valued at $2,000 as was the panther, which was clawed on the head and neck in the fight. Barangtu, though large, did not compare in size with the famous Bushman of the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago. Bushman weighs 550 pounds.

>Five foot square cage
They need to use a small fighting arena because Americans are cheap.
Also two aggressive/teritorial animals in a small cage gives them no space and inetivable provokes their aggression.
>>5020329
It's because they see Gorilla's as a buff primitive human thanks to widespread Darwinism. They are self inserting on the Gorilla and feel like it's a penis extension for them.
Any Gorilla glaze is just human glaze trying to self insert as one.

Because of shit like King Kong, people for decades saw gorillas as these giant savage beasts that could bend steel and perform other superhuman feats. It wasn't until Diane Fossey's research that it was realized that gorillas are actually herbivores that keep to themselves and don't go around ripping trees out of the ground. But the image of a ten foot tall gorilla roaring and pounding his chest with his fists is still the first thing most people think of when they hear the word "gorilla" because of how engrained it is.

They are actually kind of small, but dense as fuck. I always try to explain to people how a animal having the will is more important than the skill alot of the time.
Animals in general will try to be unnoticed first and posture second rather than fight unless under specific circumstances.
