In a weight matched fight the bear would win. It just has more predatory tools for that to happen.

Because of shit like King Kong, people for decades saw gorillas as these giant savage beasts that could bend steel and perform other superhuman feats. It wasn't until Diane Fossey's research that it was realized that gorillas are actually herbivores that keep to themselves and don't go around ripping trees out of the ground.
