>be me, 21 y/o activism nerd
>slightly afraid of bugs but I like nature
>go out for a midnight cigarette
>see a bee just sitting still on the garage floor
>think “huh, weird” but leave her be
>go back 30 mins later for another smoke
>same bee, same place, hasn’t moved
>realize she’s stuck on smooth marble
>carefully scoop her onto cardboard
>bring her sugar water
>she drinks it
>feelsgoodman.jpg
>realize it’s freezing outside, she’ll never survive the night
>decide to take her inside
>set up a cardboard “bee hotel” in my room
>give her more sugar water, make her cozy
>check in later, she’s still there but alive
>go to kitchen to make more sugar water
>come back
>open the box
>she FLIES OUT STRAIGHT AT MY FACE
>let out the loudest scream of my life
>dad wakes up
>bee vanishes into my cluttered room
>can’t find her, terrified of stepping on her
>bee now owns my bedroom
>sleep on the couch, praying she finds the open window and flies out
>genuinely bonded with her but also mildly traumatized
>will still rescue bees, just maybe not in my personal living space next time

Was she just cold and grateful, or did I imprint on her and now she thinks I’m part of the hive?
Is it common for rescued bees to become overly comfortable with humans?
