Were you stimulating it for waste removal? Very young kittens won't shit unless their momma licks their asshole (you can simulate this with a warm moist terrycloth). If you are bottle feeding a kitten and not stimulating its waste removal instinct, it may not eliminate frequently enough and then will die of impaction.
