Because taxonomy is retarded, and has nothing to do with and predated evolution. Once we realized that life adapts and changes stuffing them into arbitrary groups based on arbitrary adaptations they happen to share because they are adapted to do similar things does not help us understand why they all keep ending up like that.

Phylogeny and cladiatics does because its more interested in trying to correctly identify individual lineages of life and what changes happened when so we can see how evolution works.

Probably the best and most iconic example of a clade is Darwins finches. Darwin made the connection that they were not distinct lineages or categories of finch, but a group of related finches that all descended from a single founding group of finches that colonized the Galapagos then diverged into all the finches he observed. He didn't know it but what he described is what we now recognize as a clade. A group of evolutionary related organisms all descended from a single common ancestor.
