At work my boss said he is retiring soon and so I have to buy my own tools with my own money and stop using his tools at work. Is this normal for a job to make you buy your own equipment?
>>935647518 My job title isn't mechanic but I do have to adjust the machines a little bit sometimes. I just feel like the company could provide 2 pairs of pliers and a wire cutter for me instead of making me waste money on it
>>935647700 If the company provided the tools people wouldn't use them properly and damage them, and/or steal them.

>>935647518 mechanics own their tools because they are basically contractors. also, they won't let anyone else touch their tools because that always ends in ruined tools. it's not based on "you have to". it's "I want to".
