From observation MAGA is a cult and Donald Trump is its charismatic leader. He has demonstrated in the past through his behavior that he uses the cult to enrich himself, gain votes, and avoid legal accountability.
As to your point on the MAGA movement not having social remifcations is also wrong. There have been families, friendships, and even personal relationships strained from the behavior of those who are very deeply bought into the cult of Donald Trump.
It's often common for those in cults to convert those close or near them to join. And im fact this becomes a tactic cults deploy to recruit new members.
And those who resist or don't follow the narrative or "leftists", "evil", "anti-Amerucan", etc.
When a much more rational explanation is that they were simply not interested in delegating their value systems to the cult leader, which is Donald Trump in this context.
