I know what Op is referring to. The issue he is trying to conceptualize time as something other than a measure. Even using metaphysical analogies, time is not real.
Beyond the material universe, without motion and matter, there is no passage of things, and so there's no illusion of time either.
The reason death and time often relate to the number 4 is not a coincidence. 4 is missing in the Fibonacci sequence, and much like the number 4 in the ratios which define phi and the sequence, 4 (time) can only exist in a relational formation to solid principles.
Time is an attribute of motion and matter. I hope that makes sense, but I understand if you see it differently.
Modern science and science-fiction has really tried to divide everything from itself using "quantum" theories, reducing everything down to a separated state which defies Occams' razor.
I see this as being most likely, but progress will tell. Whatever the truth happens to be.
