Proper Nonna Pizza is the best, made fresh, not synthetic tasting like most branded Pizza stores in the US.
Been to some Mom and Pop stores in the US on my multiple visits and they come close to authentic Italian tastes.
Pretty much everything in the US for some reason has to have sugar/corn syrup in shit that it doesn't need to be in, and that includes tomato base sauce for their pizzas.
Americans are so used to this sweet synthetic taste that when they eat natural flavours they think it is bad. There is a reason why over 150m Americans are considered Obese or higher, and it is all that shite additives, colourings and sugar in their foods.
I know a few American ex-pats here in Scotland, who started off not enjoying freshly made foods here, then after a couple of weeks their taste buds dropped the Americanised tastes and they instantly loved the freshly made stuff. Was only 3 months ago we went to a BK in Glasgow, and one took a bite of a whopper and just put it down shaking their heads - he literally didn't want to finish it. Although our BKs are a bit more natural than the US pates, he still wouldn't eat it. "Too greasy and wrong texture" was his words on why he didn't want it.
So yeah. I would encourage Americans to buy Mom and Pop stuff and not Pizza Hut etc, to taste the difference.
