I grew up going to a big, cringe, non-denominational prosperity gospel church where we would go for long back-to-back services because my mom would want to. We'd be there for like 5+ hours, especially if she felt like talking to people afterwards. If I could get out of it at the cost of not being able to play video games, I would count that as a win

Mom pushed me to play some video games when I was sick. When I got the chicken pox it knocked me down hard. Itchy rash, sure, but I had a nasty fever and was just weak and washed out. She leaned in to check on me and wanted to get me up and about a little. She sat me down in front of the nintendo and fired up klax and explained how it work.

And it sparked a fierce Klax rivalry for years to come. Playstation was the new hotness and it was still the Nintendo hooked up to the family TV because mom or I would always sit down and Klax a couple times a week to beat each other's score.
Mom still has the high score. I need to see if I can find the Nintendo. Its somewhere

My mom took me to church once when I was seven, I'm from Romania so it was an Orthodox Church. She told me that "god is in the fire of the chandelier's candles" and for the rest of the service I just looked at it hoping to see God but I never saw anything but fire burning on some candles.
I think that's when I lost my faith. Because God wasn't in the candles.
And yes I obviously know she didn't mean it literally, but I was a retarded child and I took it 100% at face value.
