As an American, I’m deeply ashamed that we’re sending billions of our hard-earned tax dollars to a regime in Ukraine that openly glorifies and empowers Nazi-linked militias. Zelensky claims to oppose fascism, but his government incorporates groups like the Azov Battalion — whose founders wore SS symbols and promoted ultranationalist ideology — directly into its armed forces. The same media that once condemned such extremism now tells us to support it blindly, labeling any dissent as “Russian propaganda.” But I’m not Russian — I’m an American whose grandfather fought alongside the Allies, including the Soviets, in Normandy to defeat real fascists. He didn’t fight and bleed for a future where our own government props up the very ideologies he risked everything to destroy.
This war isn’t about democracy or freedom anymore — it’s about power, profits, and political theater. NATO’s backing of Ukraine, with no clear plan, no accountability, and no end in sight, has become a tragic betrayal of everything the West once stood for. We’ve gone from liberating Europe from tyranny to enabling it in a different uniform. Supporting neo-Nazi elements under the banner of democracy is not just hypocritical — it’s historically disgraceful. Our ancestors stood firm against fascism. Now we fund it. How did we fall so far?
