I bought a Roland D-50 that has physically broken keys in the middle. I bought it from a surviving family member of a man that was sick and having a bad time in life. I think he struck the keyboard out of frustration. How do I go about fixing these keys? I'm not sure what to purchase.

Well first you're going to have to determine how many keys are broken and in what way. See if they're cracked, snapped, bent or whatever else. See if the springs or mounts are broken. See if any of the contacts or sensors are damaged.
Next you'll have to remove the key bed, which is going to be a fairly big project. You'll have to disassemble the D-50 at least partially for this. You should be able to find some tutorials that could help with repair on YouTube.
I think the D-50 uses a J-wire keybed but double check just to be sure. A bunch of Roland stuff uses SK-3710 style keys, I think they should be compatible here too.
You should be able to get replacement keys from Syntaur, eBay or Reverb. A lot of the time you'll have to buy them in octave packs. You can also try looking around in various synth repair forums like Gearslutz or vintagesynth.

Remove the broken keys (usually by releasing a spring and sliding them out), clean the keybed, install the new keys and test spring action. Voila.
If you want you can also clean the contacts and j-wires with rubbing alcohol and apply dielectric grease if the keys are stiff.
After you power it on you should test velocity and aftertouch sensitivity.

Could always try the French Foreign Legion as well. I tried for it, though left during pre-selection, as I didn't feel ready for that yet, either. It's one thing to talk about it, another thing to actually go there in person. But it was pretty neat, the time I did spend there. The pay isn't great, and neither are the benefits, but it is a hell of an adventure and bragging rights. They'll take men all the way up to 39 1/2

Thanks for the reply. The keys are snapped and loose, but they don't fall out if that makes any sense. The sensors still work I can make those keys activate if I'm careful and press them down into the position they would land if they weren't broken.
So I look for SK-3710 in a compatible octave pack? That helps. I really didn't know what to search for when it comes to parts.
I also have a Korg DW8000 that's perfect except for the key for the lowest note. It's no broke, but you can tell it's not exactly lined up and it has a certain grinding feel to it when it's depressed. I got a good deal on it and since the rest of it was perfect I didn't complain. Probably just needs taken apart. Something needs bent back into shape and lubricated.

I got my single engine VFR back in 1995.. I only flew 25 more flights after getting my license about a year and a half after getting it. Then one flight with an instructor back around 2007.. Still carry my licence but haven't had a valid medical since 2009.. I miss flying. No medical reasons, I'm certain I could pass one today as I have a CDL and valid medical there. Just can't afford it. Life just kept getting shitty and never really gave me the time and money to get back in the cockpit again.. I'm fairly certain I'll never be pilot in command ever again.. And honestly, my love for flying I guess sorta died. Just something I once did that became unobtanium, so I don't hurt myself by loving it anymore. Sort of more of numbness than a real pain when I miss it these days. It's to the point if I win the lottery, I'm not sure I'd fly even then.. A lot of fires died in me as 40 and 50 went by.. Year by year. Most of those fires dying I didn't even notice. Just figured it out later when an opportunity to do something I once never passed, just wasn't that motivating anymore. I love my wife, our young son.. I can still get motivated for them. But even that I've noticed is losing its voltage for me. I'd like to take my son flying at least once, but even that doesn't really motivate me.. The money and time just isn't there, probably never will be.. So why bother? I have a strange hobby. I like to forage for wild plants and edible mushrooms. I'm always checking and trying to Id new plants to see what they are, what they are called, and how they can be used. I've identified a good number of plants that grow locally and regularly harvest them when they are in season. Most people either think my interest in local flora is weird, or just don't care. I really want to find a local group of foragers, but I think I might be the only person in my state who does it.

That's neat. I live in an area where honey ring mushrooms pop up pretty regularly. They grow in giant clusters but they rot pretty quickly. I cooked some up, but I wasn't impressed with their flavor. Not sure if it was just bad luck with the cluster I found or if that's just what honey ring's taste like.

Yea, I've eaten some normal puffballs that were about the size of a baseball. I cut them in half to look for anything that looked like a mushroom. Nope just solid white just like my giant ones. I think there are other giant species that only pop up once a couple generations. Giant Puffballs are rare enough and I'll probably never see them here again, but there's another species that showed up here around the mid 1950's that's never been seen before (18thcentury) or since. I was told they were like a giant meadow mushroom with a hint of pink in their flesh that the top of which would easily peel.
