Simplest way to have strong value system thats not based on belief or insulting crusader mentality is to accept that "god" exists, but not as imaginary fwiend, but as set of socialy constructed values people use to go through life. Accept it as part of evolutionary survival mechanism, culture and easy filter. Some can follow their reasoning capability alone, some need more structured order, or simply threat of getting into 72 tranny pack. Same as fears are transmited through dna, we can be born with better adjustments. Having religion shouldnt be viewed as damaged humanity.
Islam recognized something called "abilitiy to percive god, or godly element" i cant remember exact word for it, but its great concept to explain someone your's value system without insulting their culture.
