The Steam Deck and the Nintendo Switch 2 are incomparable. Why would anyone think that the general public would want to or even know how to emulate Nintendo games?

being able to play old games as best as possible is pretty cool compared to nintendo's own offering with NSO's shitty emulation, not to mention it's not even hard to find a .rom from a random google website and just run it through an emulator

I agree that itโ€™s cool for those willing to put in the effort but you canโ€™t deny that the general public wonโ€™t know or care to know how to do it

i feel like you're not giving enough credit to most people, if a person is aware of the fact that emulation is a thing, they can install a gamecube game and play it with dolphin

You're not giving credit to how dumb the average person is, both old and young.
Most people don't know how to navigate their folders, unless emulation is made as simple as possible through buttons, the average person won't be doing it.

You're vastly overstating how tech literate people are. Everyone does it tbh, it's scary to know how incapable the average person is when faced with a computer.

Ask your local 4 year old Timmy to emulate a GameCube. Or what about your local 50 year old mom.

Which is why i specifically said people that are aware of the fact that emulation is a thing and they can play console games on platforms not designed to be played on, sure stuff like finding prod.keys or firmware for switch emulation might be "complicated" for a total newbie, but anything before 7th gen can be played on an emulator with a simple drag and drop.
